Inken
Age 23 – Germany
My name is Inken and I am from Southern Germany, 23 years old and presently Master’s student in Business in Emerging Markets’ at FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences in Graz, Austria. Within the framework of this program, I am studying the last two semesters in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I am widely interested, mainly in politics and business studies, but also in different languages and different cultural regions. This is why I studied two bachelor degrees. The first degree “European Studies” has its focus on politics and culture, meanwhile my second Bachelor degree “International Cultural and Business Studies” is concentrated mainly on Business Studies.
During my Bachelor degrees, I also stayed one semester abroad in Spain and I did an internship in a German political foundation, located in Latvia. This foundation stands for values, such as freedom, justice and solidarity and carries out a supportive role of the country of Germany abroad to take the country’s responsibility in this world. During this internship, I was actively involved in various political events and debates.
My Master’s degree focuses on business in Emerging Markets. Environment is one of the major pillars in this degree as it offers business opportunities, but also requires one’s responsibility regarding the environment one is operating in. This also lets one refer to the term of Corporate Social Responsibility. The term especially needs to be considered when operating in Emerging Markets as they often depict related institutional voids when aiming to ensure environmental standards.
As part of this degree, I participated in subjects which include topics, such as the current Global Energy Debate and dealing with advantages and disadvantages of different energy sources, but also Corporate Social Responsibility in general. Moreover, the courses also included simulation games of involved agents in the energy debate, in which I represented the actor of Greenpeace. To conclude, I think it is important to consider the company’s role in environmental debates as well and I would especially like to contribute in reference to this aspect in the following debate of the “World Peace Youth” organization.
Thus, I am convinced that the exchange of opinions between people is very important to keep oneself open-minded and to achieve peace, freedom and solidarity. Therefore, I am highly interested to participate in debates of the “World Peace Youth” organization.
